Inspire Encourage Prayer Praise

“Competing for Space.”
When computers exceed their capacity for space they begin to slow down. Their performance becomes poor. Either the owner has to defrag their computer or upgrade it or get a new one. So it is with God’s people. We must make room and space for more of God’s Word on a daily basis for meditation and reflection time without competition from other noises. God says do not forget what I have written in my Word because if you do, this will lead you to serving other spiritual gods and idols from the land. Our strong desire should be, “Lord give me a love for Your Word that impacts my will and carnal appetites.” When we make our prayer time a pursuit of God’s face He will increase our capacity to retain His Word. So, we become living epistles read among men.

So, what does spiritual defragging and upgrading look like? Stop the locomotion train of heavy life’s pursuits and begin to focus on God’s Word at some point of your day. This can become emotionally, mentally, and spiritually violent to some degree because of the many distractions of noises and voices around you (deadlines to meet, people you must see, domestic responsibilities screaming at you, etc.).

Judas was a goal-task driven man with much ambition. This led him to reducing the precious intimate value of God’s presence to only 30 pieces of silver. Now, if I was crazy enough and had to betray Jesus, I would have asked the Jewish elders for financial stock in the bank of Jerusalem, financial investments for my children, grandchildren, and the third and fourth generation as well. All because I witnessed His miracles, signs and wonders for myself and there would be no way I would betray Jesus for 30 pierces of silver. Judas never got defragged in His spirit to keep a high appreciation for the priceless blood of Jesus Christ. Judas never got an upgrade nor did he guard his heart with all diligence. He devalued intimate time in prayer and in the Word with Jesus Christ. And he walked directly with Jesus!

Spiritual defragging is casting down every imagination (image-of-nations) from our daily thinking that exalts itself against the value system of Jesus Christ through prayer and fasting. To upgrade is to download God’s Word into our spirit against the many loud noises that compete for our time, talent, and resources. This keeps the high value of intimacy that King David shows us through his reign for worship, prayer, and desiring the character of Jesus to be visible throughout our day. David spent over 867 million dollars giving to the building of the temple. Is their space in the computer of your heart, mind, and soul for the vibrant intimate penetrating Word of God today?

“COMPASSION”
There is a time for every purpose under heaven. There is a time to plant, and a time to pluck up. We must not pluck up what hasn’t been given time to take root. Multitudes followed Jesus because of His compassion. It was love and compassion that moved Him to perform miracles. Matthew 9:36 says, “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.”

There are people, so beaten down by this world that they do not have the strength to follow after God. These are those weak hands, and feeble knees that we must strengthen. (see Isaiah 35:3; Hebrews 12:12) We must encourage every fearful heart that God is willing and able to save them. They need to know that He is for them, and not against them. Jesus did not mention hell or judgement (although these things be true) to those who were weak or fainting. He reserved these admonishments for those who claimed to have knowledge of God. The words of the prophet, concerning Him, were fulfilled in this saying, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised” (Luke 4:18).

The Word of God is full of answers for a lost and dying world. If we are led by the Spirit, we will transmit love and compassion. As a result we will see the eyes of the spiritually blind opened, and the spiritually lame, leap like a hart. We also will see many other miracles promised to those who believe.

Pray:
that God will give us wisdom to know who can handle strong meat.
that we will be motivated by love and compassion.
that the Spirit of God will draw the poor in spirit to us.
that we are anointed with healing words for the brokenhearted.
for a spirit of deliverance to change the minds of those without hope.
for emotional healing for those crushed by life’s circumstances.
that blind eyes would be opened to see what God wants them to see.

POA HOPE Prayer
Spring ’21 90 Day Prayer Journey

We are all familiar with the Good Samaritan parable in the Bible. There are similarities between the character of the Good Samaritan and the Father in the story of the Prodigal Son. Both depict the love of Jesus.

In the story of the Good Samaritan, we would have expected a Jew, a Priest, or the Levite to be the one who would have been the hero, not the Samaritan. However, perhaps we can go back to II Chronicles 28 where the prophet Oded convinced the Samaritans who were the outcasts, to assist their Judean captives to show compassion.

In the story of the Prodigal Son, the Father showed great love toward his son. His son did not deserve the beautiful mercy bestowed upon him. Compassion won.

Prayer wins. Compassion wins. Love wins…every time.

As we enter into our thirteenth 90 Day Prayer Journey for our beloved prodigals and we who love them, we pray for hearts of love and compassion toward them. We pray for the heart of the compassionate Samaritan and the heart of the loving Father. When we pray with brokenness, not with anger, condemnation, judging, we will then minister in love with our actions.

Seeds of compassionate prayer reap mighty blessings. Faith rises. HOPE awakens. Love flows. We receive answers to prayers we’ve been praying for months or even years.

We invite you, your churches, youth groups, small cell groups, families, couples, and singles to unite with HOPE Prayer, a ministry of The Pentecostals of Alexandria, for those with prodigals to pray for our beloved prodigals. This will be our 13th prayer journey praying the book by Dr. James Banks, 90 Days of Prayers for your child. God has performed miracles in the past. He will do it again.
