We are to be careful not to become a Religious Apostolic Christian. A few months ago I made a brief inspirational post about this topic. But base on what I am seeing more and more in this “Coronavirus” adversities of life, I am being admonished by the Spirit on my mind to write more about this and again.
An Apostolic Christian is someone who has obeyed Acts 2:38 KJV and has received the Holy Ghost. Whether or not the person is living a holy life is another matter. But they are an Apostolic Christian according to the Scriptures and obedience to it from Acts 2:38. Then they are to move on and grow in Christ to become holy (see 1 Peter 1:15-17). That include not doing the things of this world or loving the things of this world (see 1 John 2:15-17).
However, today there are so many who are content with just doing a few “religious” things, and still say they are Apostolic Christians. For example, they are comfortable and content with attending Church just once weekly (usually on the Sunday) or even once monthly or a few times a year. But see Hebrews 10:25. Then they often claim to be holy but they are so involved in going to places and doing many things they should not do that some of us often wonder if they are still Apostolic or just a religious person who does the same things.
The “Religious Apostolic” does not take seriously the need to die daily (see 1 Corinthians 15:31) pray always (see Luke 21:36) or come to Church as often as the Church meets each time (see Hebrews 10:25). They are loving the lifestyle of this world. For example, when sisters in Christ see “nothing wrong” with wearing male/men garments such as pants, and even to Church Services, we know they are wrong. Because Deuteronomy 22:5 says “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.” We know it’s the year 2020 or modern times, as some like to say as reasons for that. But the word of God from the Old Testament to the New Testament and concerning many things, has not changed. Dressing like that is how the “Religious Denomination” Bible Believers dress. And that is being like the world if Apostolic Christians do so as well.
Then there are some who believe liking and singing the secular and sensual songs of this world is ok or fine as long as they do not do as many of the songs sub-consciously suggest or insinuate. But the real fact is, sooner or later, the more someone listens to those secular/sensual songs, the more they will be inclined to do as the songs imply or instruct them to do. Some “Religious Christians” will spend hours online watching tv or playing games but cannot take 30 minutes a week to teach a Home Bible Study Topic to someone they are capable of teaching and helping.
Then there are some who are “counting down” the days towards Christmas again as they earnestly look forward to that. But they are not looking forward to the weekly Church Prayer Meeting or Church Bible Study Fellowship that supply and nourish their weekly Spiritual needs. That will help them stay alive, be holy and look forward to the end of their journey on earth, and to then receive their heavenly rewards (see 2 Timothy 4:7-8).
When the “Religious Apostolic Christians” prefer, for example, to focus daily and more on the political views of friends online at various news media or social networks online, than the preaching of the word from the man of God (i.e. Pastor) then we know something is very wrong with their lifestyle. That kind of lifestyle it not in agreement/accordance with Scriptures (see Colossians 3:2). Religious Apostolic Christians will have all the excuses in the world not to do the Spiritual things of God. But they will have very easy motivation to do the secular things of this world that often brings them personal pleasure.
There are many more examples of what the Religious Apostolic Christians are doing and need to stop doing. No one will be forced to serve God or be holy. Some of us still believe God still gives us the freedom of choice, and will always do so. But he also specify the consequences of not obeying him and his word in the word of God (i.e. the Bible). See 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 KJV.
We can help each other to stay away from the things and lifestyle of this world. See 2 Timothy 1:7-10 KJV. But the willingness to change from the heart must be there. There is real Spiritual danger in loving the things and lifestyle of this present world we are living in each day. This world or “Systems” of this World is not intentionally designed to help any Christian make it to Heaven. It’s about satan’s Kingdom and living the evil things of this world often disguised as righteousness or good for us. See Matthew 7:15-20 KJV.
For those who are Jesus Believers and love God: Jesus, even as we pray for and witness to the unsaved to be saved according to Acts 2:38 KJV, we also need to keep the prayers going and help those who are saved be holy and avoid becoming a Religious Apostolic Christian. See Revelation 2:4-7 KJV.
